Sign Manufacturing Edmonton
Built Right, Built to Last
Great design gets wasted on a poorly built sign. At Pivotal Signs & Imaging, we manufacture custom signs in Edmonton using quality materials selected for each sign type and environment — in our own production facility, with direct oversight at every stage of the build.
What It Covers
What Sign Manufacturing Covers
Sign manufacturing is the physical process of fabricating a sign from production-ready artwork and approved specifications. Depending on the sign type, this may involve metal fabrication, acrylic cutting and forming, LED module assembly, vinyl printing and application, structural welding, and electrical wiring. Different sign types require different skills, tools, and materials.
At Pivotal Signs, all fabrication is done in-house. The team building your sign is the same team that designed it and will install it. No handoffs to outside fabricators, no quality gaps between design intent and what gets built.

Sign Types
Sign Types We Manufacture
From individual channel letters to complete monument signs — if it’s a sign, we build it in our Edmonton facility using materials specified for the sign type and its environment.
01
Channel Letters
Three-dimensional individual letters fabricated from aluminum returns, faces, and LED lighting components. Available in front-lit, halo (backlit), and combination configurations. One of the most technically demanding sign types to fabricate well — and one of the most impactful when done right.
02
Cabinet Signs & Lightboxes
Illuminated cabinet signs fabricated from aluminum frames with acrylic or polycarbonate faces. Single-face and double-face configurations available. We fabricate cabinets for new installations and face replacements on existing structures.
03
Dimensional Letters & Logos
Freestanding or wall-mounted dimensional lettering in metal, acrylic, high-density urethane (HDU) foam, and PVC. Dimensional letters add depth and professionalism to reception areas, building facades, and monument signs.
04
Monument Signs
Freestanding low-profile signs for property entrances. Monument sign fabrication typically involves structural steel, aluminum, cabinet faces, and foundation work. We coordinate the complete manufacturing scope including fabrication and installation.
05
Pylon Signs
Tall freestanding signs for high-traffic road visibility. Pylon fabrication involves structural steel, cabinet construction, LED illumination systems, and foundation specifications. We manage the full fabrication and installation process.
06
Acrylic Signs
Cut, routed, and formed acrylic signs for interior and exterior applications. Available in a wide range of colours and finishes including frosted, clear, and opaque. Produced in a range of thicknesses for wall plaques, reception signs, wayfinding, and display.
07
Metal Signs
Fabricated aluminum and steel signs in a range of gauges, finishes, and configurations. Appropriate for exterior identification, directional signage, architectural elements, and high-durability applications.
Materials & Standards
Materials and Production Standards
Material selection is one of the most consequential decisions in sign manufacturing. The right material for the application extends the life of a sign significantly. The wrong one creates problems within seasons. We specify materials based on sign type, environment, expected lifespan, and installation conditions.
01
Structural Components
Powder-coated aluminum and steel for structural elements — corrosion-resistant, weatherproof, and rated for Alberta’s full seasonal range including freeze-thaw cycles and temperature extremes.
02
Sign Faces & Panels
UV-stable acrylics for cabinet fronts and sign faces. UV stability is non-negotiable for Edmonton’s long summer sun exposure — commodity acrylics yellow and degrade within a few seasons.
03
Illumination Systems
LED lighting systems rated for cold-weather operation. LED performance in sub-zero temperatures requires proper specification — we select modules rated for Alberta winter conditions, not just indoor or mild-climate use.
04
Print Production
Water-based latex inks throughout our large format printing — scratch-resistant, abrasion-resistant, and ready without cure time. Faster turnaround and no solvent off-gassing for occupied indoor environments.
For outdoor signs in Edmonton, we specify materials that hold up through freeze-thaw cycles in spring, sustained UV exposure in summer, and temperature swings that stress both adhesives and structural joints. We don’t substitute cheaper materials to hit a lower price point.
Quality Control
In-House Production Means Quality Control at Every Stage
When a sign company outsources fabrication, quality control becomes difficult. Specifications can be misinterpreted, materials can be substituted, and problems are often discovered only after delivery. When fabrication is in-house, problems are caught and corrected before the sign leaves the facility.
Our design team works directly with our production team — artwork is production-ready from the start and specifications are communicated directly rather than through a chain of vendors. Quality checks happen throughout the build, not just at the end.
Once your sign is fabricated, our installation crew handles delivery, mounting, electrical connections, and site finishing. Manufacturing and installation under one roof means the installers know exactly how the sign was built and how it should be handled during transport and mounting.
01
No Outsourcing
All fabrication is done in our own Edmonton facility. No third-party manufacturers, no specification drift, no surprise material substitutions.
02
Design Meets Production
Our design team works on the same floor as our fabrication team. Artwork is production-ready before build begins — no revisions triggered by fabrication constraints.
03
Inspected Before It Ships
Quality checks happen throughout the build. Issues are identified and corrected in our facility, not discovered on the installation site or after the sign is mounted.
04
Permit Before Fabrication
We do not begin fabrication until permits are approved. No risk of completing a sign that cannot be legally installed on schedule.
