Perforated Window Vinyl Edmonton
Perforated Window Vinyl in Edmonton for Vehicles and Commercial Glass
Perforated window vinyl solves a specific problem: how to display a full-coverage graphic on a glass surface while maintaining usable outward visibility from inside. From outside, the printed graphic reads across the full surface. From inside, the micro-holes allow enough light through to maintain reasonable visibility.
How Perforated Window Vinyl Works
Full Graphic Outside. Visibility Maintained Inside.
The film is produced with a precise perforation pattern, typically around 60 percent printed surface to 40 percent open holes. The printed surface carries the graphic; the holes allow light transmission from the reverse side. From the outside, the holes are filled visually by the surrounding printed surface and are not visible at normal viewing distances.
From inside the vehicle or building, the holes allow outward visibility in a manner similar to looking through a fine mesh. The visibility is functional but not equivalent to clear glass. Peripheral vision is reduced and detail at distance is somewhat softened. This makes the material appropriate for rear and side windows on vehicles where a direct forward view is not required, and for storefront glass that is not a primary sight line for building occupants.
Applications
Vehicle Windows and Commercial Glass. Same Material, Different Installs.
Perforated window vinyl works on curved vehicle glass and flat commercial glazing. We produce and install both applications in-house at our Edmonton facility.
01
Rear Window Vehicle Graphics
The most common vehicle application. Full-coverage printed graphic on the rear window of a van, SUV, or pickup truck visible to following traffic. Drivers behind the vehicle have extended viewing time, making the rear window a high-visibility advertising surface for delivery vehicles, service vans, and company cars.
02
Rear Side Window Graphics
Perforated vinyl on rear side glass panels of vans and SUVs. Rear side windows do not affect driver visibility and present additional surface area visible to pedestrians and adjacent traffic. Combined with a rear window graphic, extends branded coverage without touching the body panels.
03
Full Vehicle Window Treatment
Perforated vinyl applied to all rear and side windows in a coordinated design that integrates with the body graphics of a partial or full wrap. Maximum branding across all non-driving glass surfaces.
04
Retail Window Advertising
Perforated vinyl on storefront glass for full-coverage promotional graphics visible from the street while maintaining daylight entry and outward visibility inside. Practical for seasonal campaigns and promotions that change regularly. Removable and replaceable.
05
Office and Commercial Building Glass
Large glazing panels in office buildings and commercial properties carrying perforated vinyl for branding, privacy screening, or event promotion. Occupied floors maintain outward visibility while presenting a branded exterior face to the street.

Material and Print Specifications
60/40 Perforation. UV Laminate. 2 to 4 Years Outdoors.
We specify the right substrate, perforation pattern, and laminate for the glass type and exposure of each installation.
We print perforated window vinyl using water-based latex inks, which provide UV stability, scratch resistance, and colour durability on the printed surface. The substrate is manufactured with consistent hole patterns for predictable outward visibility from the inside.
Outdoor applications are laminated with a UV-resistant overlaminate that extends colour life and provides surface protection. A quality perforated window vinyl application with UV-stable inks and an outdoor laminate typically lasts 2 to 4 years on exterior glass surfaces. Alberta’s UV intensity affects the graphic over time. Applications in direct south-facing sun exposure see faster colour change than shaded applications.
For vehicle rear window applications, we use materials appropriate for curved glass surfaces. For flat commercial glass applications, we use flat sheet perforated vinyl. Perforated vinyl is removable using heat application, careful peeling, and glass-safe solvent for adhesive residue. We recommend professional removal for large or aged applications.
60/40 Perforation Pattern
Approximately 60 percent printed surface to 40 percent open holes. Graphic reads as full coverage from outside. Functional outward visibility maintained from inside.
UV-Stable Latex Inks
Water-based latex inks for UV stability, scratch resistance, and colour durability. Outdoor UV-resistant overlaminate extends graphic life and provides surface protection.
Curved and Flat Glass
Vehicle rear window applications use materials rated for curved glass. Flat commercial glazing uses flat sheet perforated vinyl. Different installation techniques for each surface type.
2 to 4 Years Outdoors
Typical lifespan with UV laminate on exterior glass. South-facing installations in direct Alberta summer UV see colour change sooner. Indoor applications last significantly longer.
Installation
Designed, Printed, and Installed In-House.
Vehicle applications are installed with a clear application tape to align the material on the glass before final adhesion. Curved rear glass requires careful squeegee technique and heat application to conform the material to the surface without bubbles or wrinkles. Flat commercial glass applications use a wet application method for precise alignment across large panels.
Perforated vinyl should not be applied to the front windshield or driver-side windows where a clear view is required for safe vehicle operation. We advise on appropriate window placement for vehicle applications. For storefront and commercial glass, we advise on coverage relative to the interior sight lines that need to be maintained.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about perforated window vinyl from Edmonton businesses.
Can you see clearly through perforated window vinyl from inside a vehicle?
You can see through it, but it is not equivalent to clear glass. The perforations allow outward visibility in a manner similar to looking through a fine mesh. Forward and peripheral vision are somewhat reduced. For this reason, perforated window vinyl is appropriate for rear and side windows where the driver is not relying on the view, and should not be applied to the front windshield or driver-side windows where a clear view is required for safe operation.
How long does perforated window vinyl last on a vehicle?
A quality perforated window vinyl application with UV-stable inks and an outdoor laminate typically lasts 2 to 4 years on exterior glass surfaces. Alberta’s UV intensity affects the graphic over time. Applications in direct south-facing sun exposure see faster colour change than shaded or north-facing applications. We advise on laminate options for extending graphic life.
