Acrylic Signs in Edmonton for Offices, Retail, and Commercial Spaces

Acrylic is one of the most versatile materials in commercial signage. Lightweight, rigid, available in hundreds of colours and finishes, and produces a clean professional appearance whether the application is a small nameplate or a large reception wall sign. We fabricate custom acrylic signs in Edmonton for offices, retail, healthcare, and commercial properties of all types.

What Acrylic Signs Are and Why They Work

Precise. Durable. Available in Hundreds of Finishes.

Acrylic is a cast polymer material available as flat sheet in thicknesses from 3mm through to 25mm and beyond, in hundreds of standard colours including clear, opaque, frosted, and translucent tints. Unlike glass, acrylic does not shatter under impact. Unlike painted MDF or PVC, acrylic maintains its surface finish over years of use without chipping, peeling, or yellowing in typical indoor conditions.

For sign applications, acrylic is cut, routed, engraved, and printed using CNC equipment and UV-stable inks. Edges can be left saw-cut for a clean matte finish, flame-polished for a glass-like transparent edge, or painted. Surfaces can be printed, engraved, or left clear depending on the application.

Acrylic Sign Types We Produce

Five Acrylic Sign Formats for Every Commercial Application

From a 3mm printed wayfinding panel to a 20mm backlit reception sign, we fabricate every acrylic sign format in-house at our Edmonton facility.

01

Reception and Feature Wall Signs

Acrylic letter sets and logo plaques for reception desks and feature walls. Available in opaque colours with routed lettering, backlit LED configurations, and standoff-mounted designs. One of the most popular interior sign formats for professional offices, medical facilities, and corporate environments in Edmonton.

02

Printed Acrylic Signs

Full-colour graphics printed directly onto acrylic sheet using UV-cured inks permanently bonded to the surface. Used for wayfinding panels, menu boards, product displays, point-of-sale graphics, and branded wall panels. Print applied to face or reverse depending on the application.

03

Frosted and Etched Acrylic

Frosted acrylic sheet for privacy screens, decorative partitions, office dividers, and sign panels where a translucent appearance is required. Cut or engraved lettering on frosted acrylic produces a subtle, premium appearance suited to professional and healthcare environments.

04

Dimensional Acrylic Letters

Individual acrylic letters cut to shape and mounted directly to a wall. Available in any font, size, and colour, typically 6mm to 25mm thick. Surface finishes include gloss, matte, and metallic foil laminates. The material choice for dimensional letter installations where a clean, contemporary look is required.

05

Door, Office, and Wayfinding Signs

Room identification signs, suite numbers, door nameplates, and wayfinding panels produced as part of a consistent office sign system. Designed to maintain visual continuity across all sign types in a facility.

Materials and Specifications

Indoor 10+ Years. Outdoor with UV Stabilisation. Backlit Available.

We specify the right acrylic grade, thickness, and finish for each application. Indoor, outdoor, illuminated, or decorative.

Acrylic performs well indoors and, with appropriate specification, outdoors. For indoor applications, standard cast acrylic is appropriate for most uses. For outdoor applications, UV-stabilised acrylic formulations are specified to resist the surface yellowing and degradation that occurs with unstabilised grades in prolonged sunlight exposure. Edmonton’s UV intensity in summer makes UV stabilisation an important consideration for any acrylic sign installed in direct sun exposure.

Indoor acrylic signs in normal conditions last 10 or more years with basic cleaning. Outdoor acrylic with UV stabilisation typically lasts 5 to 7 years before surface degradation becomes visible. Engraved and machined acrylic is essentially permanent unless the substrate is physically damaged.

For outdoor cabinet faces and backlit sign faces in locations subject to impact risk, polycarbonate is sometimes specified instead of acrylic for its higher impact resistance. Acrylic is clearer and more scratch-resistant than polycarbonate; polycarbonate is virtually unbreakable. We advise on the right material for each application.

Standard Cast Acrylic

Available in hundreds of colours and finishes including clear, opaque, frosted, and translucent. Thicknesses from 3mm to 25mm. Does not shatter, chip, peel, or yellow in indoor conditions.

UV-Stabilised Acrylic

Specified for outdoor applications in Edmonton’s UV conditions. Resists surface yellowing and degradation significantly longer than standard grades. Essential for direct sun exposure.

UV-Cured Printing

Full-colour graphics permanently bonded to acrylic surface using UV-cured inks. Applied to face or reverse (second-surface) depending on the application. Essentially permanent in indoor conditions.

Backlit Configurations

Edge-lit acrylic creates an even glow from LEDs along the edges. Back-lit places LEDs behind a translucent panel for a lightbox effect. Both produced in-house at our Edmonton facility.

Fabrication and Installation

CNC Cut and Routed In-House. Installed by Our Team.

We fabricate acrylic signs in-house using CNC routing and cutting equipment for precise letter and shape profiles. Edge finishing, engraving, printing, and LED integration are all performed at our Edmonton production facility. In-house fabrication means close control over dimensions, finish quality, and tolerances, and the ability to make adjustments quickly before a sign leaves the shop.

Our installation team handles mounting, standoff installation, electrical connection for illuminated signs, and site cleanup. For office sign systems where multiple acrylic sign types are installed across a facility, we manage the complete installation as a single coordinated project.

For project inquiries, call us at 780-540-9540 or use the quote request form. We serve Edmonton, Spruce Grove, St. Albert, Stony Plain, Sherwood Park, and Leduc. Our shop is at 18118 107th Avenue, Edmonton.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about acrylic signs from Edmonton businesses.

For reception signs and dimensional letter applications, 10mm to 20mm thickness produces a substantial, high-quality appearance. For flat printed panels and wayfinding signs, 3mm to 6mm is standard. The right thickness depends on the letter height, mounting method, and the visual weight you want the sign to carry. We advise on thickness specification during the design consultation.

Yes, with UV-stabilised acrylic formulations. Standard cast acrylic will yellow and degrade with prolonged outdoor UV exposure. UV-stabilised grades maintain their appearance significantly longer. For outdoor sign faces and backlit panels, we specify the appropriate grade for the installation environment.

Acrylic is clearer and more scratch-resistant than polycarbonate but shatters under sharp impact. Polycarbonate is virtually unbreakable but scratches more easily. For most indoor sign applications, acrylic is the better choice. For outdoor signs in high-risk locations or cabinet faces where impact resistance matters, polycarbonate may be specified.

Yes. We print directly onto acrylic sheet using UV-cured inks that are permanently bonded to the surface. We also print onto the reverse face of clear acrylic (second-surface printing), which protects the graphic behind the material and produces a distinctive depth effect.
Yes. Backlit acrylic signs use translucent or edge-lit acrylic with LED illumination behind or within the panel. Edge-lit acrylic creates an even glow across the panel face from LEDs placed along the edges. Back-lit configurations place LEDs behind a translucent panel for a lightbox effect. We produce both configurations in-house.
